3 Types of Rhinoplasties

Rhinoplasty also know as nose job is a type of nose surgery that is done to correct the shape and other undesirable abnormal nose’s profile, which can be caused by a deviated septum, nose injury, and many more. However, the most common reasons why a person wants to get a rhinoplasty are because of cosmetic purposes. In rhinoplasty, there are generally two different types when it comes to the way on how the incisions are made, the close rhinoplasty and the open rhinoplasty. However, there is a third type of rhinoplasty that does not involve and incisions, the non-surgical rhinoplasty.

Before and After Rhinoplasty

Closed rhinoplasty, also known as endonasal rhinoplasty is a type of rhinoplasty that involves making incisions internally, rather than making incisions outside the nose. For the plastic surgeon to reach the nasal cavity without making any external incisions, the surgeon makes several small incisions in the nostrils. Even though incisions during closed rhinoplasty are made internally, the surgeon can still do several reshaping procedures to the nose just like doing open rhinoplasty, just according to the patient’s preference. 2 good things about having a closed rhinoplasty is that there will be no visible scars to the nose after surgery, since the skin of the nose was not incised and recovery time is usually faster than open rhinoplasty.

Open Rhinoplasty

Open rhinoplasty or external rhinoplasty is a type of rhinoplasty the incisions are made externally. The columnella, or the thin skin separating both nostrils. One disadvantage of getting an open rhinoplasty is that there is a greater chance for visible scars, since incisions are made externally. This type of rhinoplasty can give the surgeon a better look and direct access to your nasal cavity for more reshaping procedures to be done. But if you are recommended to undergo an open rhinoplasty, you do not have to worry about scarring, since scars in the columnella are usually not obvious.

Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty

In a non-surgical rhinoplasty, not a single incision will be made. However, this type of rhinoplasty can’t make any major changes to the nose’s shape, only minor changes. Injectable substances and fillers are used in a non-surgical rhinoplasty, in order to correct minor abnormalities to the nose’s profile. One good thing about this type of rhinoplasty is that it can be cheaper, it will be less painful, and the whole procedure can be done in just minutes, approximately 15 minutes and your whole procedure is complete.
